As international Architectural Visualisation Awards go this is by far the most prestigious. The Evermotion Challenge 2020 theme was ‘My own 2020’. My entry was titled ‘Lockdown Birthday’.
For the competition I wanted to create a realistic representation of 2020, but focusing in on one of the happier moments of the year. The NHS Rainbow and Black Lives Matter window posters are so prevalent in South East London I felt somehow these had to be included in the CGI, and so really the entire visualization was built around including these. Other lockdown features were the Amazon parcel and of course the Zoom call replacing actual friends. At it’s core this is an interior design image – just telling a story from the last year at the same time. Congratulations to all the other winners and a big thank you to the judges.
Here’s what two of the judges had to say about the CGI –
“Great stuff! Its incredible that an image of an ordinary day can tell so much about the times it shows. You concluded all of 2020 bitter reality facts and documented it on a great image! The composition is nice, the light is splendid – great job and congratulations!”
“Conceptually, this is very powerful and speaks volumes about the state of affairs in the world today…. It’s a great composition, well made, well lit, well rendered… Good job!”
