Life In The Fast Lane

Designed, modelled and visualised with Two Square Creative this was possibly the only stand actually built for the cancelled 2020 Geneva International Motor Show. The end client Czinger ‘forged ahead and built their Geneva show stand complete with vehicles despite knowing that not a single member of the public or media would get to scuff their shoes upon the surface of the finished area’.

At the core of the design was the brief that the roof of the stand must be open to air circulation. From this need, I designed the blades which travel up the side of the structure and then return to become the roof. The blades are rotated 45 degrees allowing air flow without visibility. These blades are then repeated to become the sides of the staircase and again at the front of the stand as privacy screens. I think they proved to be a practical yet elegant feature of the structure.

Other requirements for the design included a giant 10 metre wide screen and a number of bespoke furniture pieces including the reception desk, servery areas and display cases. The design was to be of the highest specification including suede-like alcantara on all internal walls.

The stand was designed to showcase Czinger’s worldwide debut of their groundbreaking hypercar the Czinger 21C. The 3d printed vehicle, ‘limited to just 80 cars, is built with an innovative approach to total vehicle design, using revolutionary manufacturing technologies to achieve dominating performance and an iconic design. Placing the driver and passenger in the middle of the car in a jetfighter-style layout, the 21C is capable of 0-62 mph in 1.9 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 8.1 seconds’.

I felt honoured to be invited to be part of such a prestigious project and was overjoyed to be able to see the photoshoot for the finished stand –  TopGear magazine photography
